Belgium is beer heaven. This is a fact. We first discovered our love for Belgian beer when we visited Brussels a few years ago, and we couldn’t wait to get back to this amazing country! After some research, we found that Bruges was the perfect option for a quick weekend given it not only has an abundance of fun bars, but is also a beautiful little town that we could enjoy walking around in. Some call it Venice of the North, because of its beautiful canals and romantic feel!

We took the train in on Saturday morning and headed straight to our first bar (actually a brewery) – De Halve Maan. Here, they brew Bruges’ most famous beer, Brugse Zot.

We checked out a few more bars, 2be and De Garre. Unknown to us before ordering, De Garre’s signature tap beer is 11% alcohol… which is a lot. We needed a Belgian waffle after this one!

Our last stop was our favorite, a bar called Le Trappiste. It was a medieval cellar bar, where I ordered my absolute favorite – La Chouffe! The decor and ambience were perfect here.

When we weren’t drinking, we spent our time walking around and soaking in the beauty of the city. Bruges is very small, so you can get around on foot, and everywhere you turn is a gorgeous cobblestone street, canal, park or building that catches your eye.

Bruges was one of those cities that truly caught me by surprise. I couldn’t believe how cute everything was! And of course, the beer culture did not disappoint. Even though it was just a quick 24 hours that we spent there, I fell in love with everything about Bruges. I have a feeling a trip back to Belgium is in the cards for 2018!
